HR's Role in Leading Successful Change

  • Midland Hills Country Club 2001 Fulham Street Roseville, MN, 55113 United States (map)

In today’s dynamic and complex business world, change not effectively managed can significantly impact the organization’s ability to create and maintain a competitive advantage.  HR leaders must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to not only adapt to change but to also identify when it’s needed and how to successfully leverage such opportunities with their business leaders.  Unfortunately in many cases, HR is not actively involved in organizational change initiatives or building the necessary internal expertise that would facilitate sustainable change.  For almost 30 years, David Ulrich, HR Expert has been empirically defining the competencies of HR professionals and how those competencies impact performance.  In the 2016 HR competency study, a key conclusion is that HR professionals need to manage both change and culture.  By championing both change and culture, HR professionals help make things consistently happen.

In this workshop, participants will be have an opportunity to strengthen their role as a change leader and increase knowledge and skills to effectively lead and manage organizational change.  Furthermore, this workshop will focus on key elements that make change sustainable, provide tools for reducing resistance and effectively communicating during change, and highlight what executives need and want from HR professionals during change.  Nancy will facilitate an interactive workshop that will provide the following:

  • Discussion on several change models and how they share many common principles

  • Research from executive change leaders in successfully leading organizational change

  • A process for demystifying change

  • Approach for understanding individual needs and reactions to organizational change

  • Tools for understanding the driving and restraining forces to change, identifying the roles and contributions needed from key stakeholders, and techniques for creating and communicating change

  • Framework and practice for dealing with resistance

  • Techniques for coaching change leaders
