Organizations are experiencing unprecedented levels of change, impacting the way in which HR consults with business leaders to develop and align people management solutions that drive business results. As demands on and expectations of HR professionals change, they must continually develop new skills and build relationships of trust and influence with key people within the organization to add value. HR leaders are being asked to be more strategic and operate as 'internal consultants' and ‘trusted advisors’ to line leaders and senior executives.
In this workshop, participants will strengthen personal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and competencies that are necessary to be credible, influential, and effective with the organizational leaders that HR professionals typically support. This workshop will rely heavily on the model and process of consultation proposed by Peter Block, author and OD consultant, and feature a variety of skills-building and practice activities. Participants will also have an opportunity to work on challenges and opportunities they are facing in their own organization, as well as diagnose and strategize issues faced in other organizations. Nancy will facilitate an interactive workshop that will provide the following:
Competencies needed for effective HR consulting and business partnering
Framework for strengthening presence and building effective influence strategies
Implement five phases of effective consulting processes
Practice methods for facilitating the contracting discussion
Use consulting framework, tools, and techniques to diagnose issues and develop solutions that stakeholders own
Techniques for understanding and dealing with resistance
Use authenticity to build credibility to address business challenges
