There is little doubt that HR has become a more complex and strategic role in organizations. This increased complexity requires HR professionals to be effective change agents…people who recognize restraints to organization progress and make things happen! In the past, Organization Development (OD) was a skill set reserved for a roving external consultant or internal training and development professional; today OD is an integral part of an HR professionals skill-set. Don’t take my word, scan the position descriptions of many of the high level HR jobs on the market…they want change agents....leaders with real OD skills!
In this workshop, participants will be have an opportunity to learn about OD as field and further be able to recognize how OD can add value to the role of an HR professional. In addition, this workshop will provide many workplace examples of how OD can be applied to workplace challenges and opportunities that often go ignored or are addressed with quick fix solutions. Steve will facilitate an interactive workshop that will provide the following…
A historical perspective and discussion on OD as a core HR competency.
An overview and practical examples of how action research (an OD framework) can be used to facilitate interventions.
A primer on contemporary change approaches like polarity management & appreciative inquiry and their application to HR and OD
Skills in assessment, action planning, intervention design, and evaluation.
An introduction to several change theories and models for facilitating (HR) organization change initiatives.
A ‘live case’ for OD practice and personal reflection.
